iHome iH85: First Look at the Thermos-Shaped iPod Bicycle Boombox
Here’s King of the ipod speakers so far. Why? I can’t think of one easier to carry. You slip the ipod into a protective, rubberized, canister-shaped speaker, which goes into an over the shoulder ipod holder. Rhyming is awesome. Walk along some boulevard, whistling along to your favorite song. Then, as you wander off into some bad neighborhood and the clouds roll in ominously along with a pack of thugs, use the pod-in-a-bag as a blackjack to fight off the bad men. And don’t forget to change the track to a song worth fighting to.
No details forthcoming. You’ll know when we know. –Brian Lam

Size Matters: Whopper Monitor by Siemens
How big is too big? No such thing when you’re talking about computer monitors. Siemens lashed together eight LCDs, making this gigantic display about which precious little information is available. All we know is, we want one. – Charlie White

Here’s Jason’s take on it. Because Jason was too stupid to realize Charlie already covered this, and wrote it up anyway.
Used only for monitoring nuclear power plants and a prop for my weekend “Learn to Point” learning annex class, this Seimens LCD is the craziest monitor this side of Leibermann’s photoshop files.
Actually made out of eight separate, Voltron-esque LCDs, this monitor is undoubtedly out of everyone save for the richest Bond villains. But just imagine playing Gears of War on this baby. Duck and roll baby. Duck and roll! – Jason Chen

Heady SkullCam: Evil Eye Keeps You In Line
The Chinese manufacturer of this skull-shaped webcam must’ve gotten its dates mixed up, this being more of a Halloween item than anything else, but what better way to conjure up a menacing mood for a dreaded WebCam meeting than using this SkullCam?
Look to its glowing eye for inspiration, and humble yourself in the fact that underneath that skin of yours lies a skull somewhat like this one.
What the heck is the point of this, anyway? Next, this manufacturer will release a smiley-faced webcam, just remind you to keep that twinkle in your eye and smile in your voice. Just what we need. – Charlie White

Logitech Z10 Interactive Speakers Reviewed (Verdict: Interactively Flat)
If you’re looking for a pair of 2.1 USB speakers without the .1, the Logitech Z10 Interactive Speakers should do fine. Thanks to the woofers mounted on the back of the satellites, the pair replicate bass well enough for people who don’t want to get cardiac arrhythmia every time they listen to a Snoop track.
The sound was a bit flat, but the reviewers preferred it that way. The main draw, however, is the 160×43 LCD display on the right speaker.

The same LCD that’s on the Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard gives you “current track information, your latest POP3 emails, the time and date, your current CPU and RAM utilization, a countdown timer, and a stopwatch.” There are also a bunch of mods for the G15 LCD, where you can find on the mod websites below.
There’s also support for all the major media players—probably not the Zune—and you can even set radio favorites on the thing. You’ll most likely be using the touch-sensitive buttons that control standard playback, volume, and power controls more, and they’re definitely slick looking. They’re $149 on Amazon, which isn’t bad but a bit more than the older Logitech Z-2300s that come with a sub. – Jason Chen

HP Takes on Dell and Apple in 30-inch Monitor Punch Out
We’ve already given you the lowdown on HP’s new 30-inch monitor, and now that HP has given us pricing on the LP3065 (it’ll go for $1,699) we can see that it’s gonna sit comfortably in between Dell’s $1,274 3007WFP and Apple’s $1,999 Cinema Display. With a faster response time and higher contrast ratio, we think HP has the upper hand (at least on paper). What say you, readers, which LCD do you think will deliver the best punch? – Louis Ramirez

Franken-Elmo: Man in Virgina Turns Tickle Me Elmo Guitar Into Working Guitar Hero Controller
With Guitar Hero II in stores today–the faithful have called in sick and are already shredding, no doubt–we found a man who clearly puts the Hero in Guitar Hero. Mike Smith spent a series of nights transforming his 2 year old’s Tickle Me Elmo guitar into a fully functioning Guitar Hero controller. This was no simple transplant–the-guts-from-GH-controller-into-Elmo-guitar either. Smith actually used the wiring from a PS1-era DualShock for the Franken-Elmo’s inner workings.
The Elmo guitar only has four fret buttons instead of the traditional five, which means his daughter can only play the game up to the medium skill level. “I didn’t think she’d have a chance to get beyond that point anyway,” Smith explained.
To activate Star Power, in Smith’s words, “You have to press the Elmo head button.”
No word yet on Smith’s daughter’s shredding abilities. –Scott Jones
